Memory Jigsaw

Photographs, single-channel video, colour, sound, 48 sec, 2021

My work consists of a series of photos and a video. The photographic part is made up of images related to the pandemic, which cluster on the National Memorial Wall or are scattered in other public places in London. The main content of the video, on the other hand, comes from the scenery I shot from the balcony of my flat during lockdown, the text taken from the National Memorial Wall, and the news and media online pages. This work constructs a space where individual memory, collective memory, and connective memory can all coexist. Representing the memory of the losses caused by the pandemic, I at the same time suggest mourning these losses.
