How do contemporary artists work with questions of memory? How is it expressed in their artworks? Is it the shape, the material or the thoughts behind the work that emphasize how memory plays a role in art? Following an interest in these questions, we will visit two artists from the Goldsmiths MFA course that both work with memory as an integrated part of their individual practices. Join us when we listen to the artists talk about their approach and work in our two studio visits on the 21st and 22nd of June at 7.30pm.

It is well documented that in the past ten years, far preceding the pandemic, London's LGBTQ+ nightclub scene has taken a huge hit, with 50% venues having closed in the city. Cut to 2021 and nightlife as a whole has ground to a halt as a matter of public health, with grassroots and independent club night hosts in the LGBTQ+ community moving online to accommodate and expand upon their audiences around the world. As part of 'Mapping Memories', urban geographer Lo Marshall is in conversation with MA Contemporary Art Theory student Issey Scott, where they discuss the communities and systems of care that transcend real estate and physical spaces. The conversation will be available to watch online from Tuesday 22 June at 8pm.
23/6 19.00 - 20.15 BST - on Zoom
